Model Behavior

During my morning routine, I love to watch the Today Show. Mostly for my morning dose of hard-hitting news. I’m kidding, of course about the last comment.

While I was putting on my makeup I saw that they were doing a story about Tom Brady’s victoria’s secret model wife about the Super Bowl and her hubby’s performance during the game. (See what I mean about hard-hitting?) This story actually intrigued me a bit, so I put down my mascara and continued to pay attention more closely.

To my dismay I saw that the story was about her response to a fan heckling her about how her husband played during the last few seconds of the big game.

Like she had anything to do with how her husband played.

So the model responded: “He can’t throw and catch the ball.” In reference to the last two minute drill the Pats made to try to score and pull out the win. And (for once) she was right.

Why I’m amazed … is the response it got from EVERYONE.

“She should know better, she’s been in the public eye. She should just know better.”
or

“She doesn’t even know what she’s talking about so she has no business even chiming in.”

As a close family member of a football player who’s been in the media and in the public eye, here’s MY own personal response to everyone’s responses.

Just shut up.

Seriously, yes she is a supermodel and yes she’s been in the public eye a multitude of times. However, when heckled by a fan, it’s hard not to stand up for the one you love. It doesn’t reflect on Brady in any way shape or form and it doesn’t reflect on how his wide-receivers will treat him. In fact, I think they’ll agree with the super model. But when you have Bill Belichick as a coach, what Gisele Bundchen says is the least of your worries.

By the way … most athletes don’t even pay attention to anything the media says.

Sitting in a stadium filled with people that either want your loved one to fail, or will hate him if does fail is a lose-lose situation and will test anyone’s character no matter how good the person. It will get your blood boiling no matter who you are or how many times your name and picture have appeared in the tabloids.

I almost jumped over the bleachers to strangle a man once after shouting inappropriate things about my brother. It ended up being a heated argument because he refused to hit a girl. I’ve also walked back to the hotel with my mother to watch the game on television with the sound off.

I understand that fans are fans and like to think that they know-it-all and instead of attacking the players themselves, they attack the families (because we have everything to do with our athlete’s performance) and I understand that it’s a game. You can still be a fan just be careful of who you’re sitting by.

In conclusion, leave Gisele alone. She was just defending her man and was tired of getting the flack for her husband’s performance.

I hardly think that her little comment even deserved this much publicity.
